CHD Statement in Support of Florida Naturopathy Bill

Children’s Health Defense is proud to support HB 533 and SB 470, recently filed in the Florida Legislature. This bill would make Naturopathy legal once again in Florida and reinstate the license for Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) in the state. We join the growing number of organizations calling on the Florida Legislature to pass this bill in 2025.

Since 1958, naturopathy has been illegal in Florida and NDs have lived in fear of the state. Now is the time to turn the page on that chapter to make Naturopathy legal and formally recognize NDs once again.

Unfortunately, too many Floridians are facing the burden of our growing chronic disease epidemic. To heal, so many of us must address the lifestyle factors that create the conditions for chronic diseases. Traditional Naturopaths and NDs are critical to addressing this epidemic as Naturopathy focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease through lifestyle changes. 

Children’s Health Defense and our Florida Chapter support medical freedom and choice for families and children. Our children today are exposed to many environmental toxins and it is critical that we work to reduce those exposures and restore health. Many families around the country choose to work with Naturopaths and NDs to maintain and improve their health. Families in Florida deserve the same choice. 

Today, while Florida faces a provider gap, there are good doctors living in Florida, who are properly trained, licensed in other states, and want nothing more than to help care for Floridians. Let’s bring these doctors out of the shadows and let them get to work for Floridians!
